Supreme Court Refuses to Stay Dharavi Redevelopment Project Awarded to Adani Group

The Supreme Court of India has declined to impose a status quo on the Dharavi Redevelopment Project while hearing a plea filed by Dubai-based SecLink Technologies. The plea challenges the Maharashtra government's decision to award the redevelopment contract to the Adani Group. The Bombay High Court upheld the Maharashtra government's decision in December 2024, ruling that the tender-issuing authority was best suited to assess project requirements.

Supreme Court Proceedings

A bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Justice Sanjay Kumar took note of the ongoing project developments. Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing Adani Group, informed the Court that substantial investments had been made, and over 2,000 workers were currently employed. While refusing to halt the project, the Supreme Court agreed to examine SecLink’s claims and issued notices to the Maharashtra government and the Adani Group.


SecLink’s Offer and Court's Response

SecLink Technologies proposed an increase in its previous bid of Rs 7,200 crore by 20%, making it Rs 8,640 crore. The Supreme Court directed SecLink to file an affidavit detailing its revised offer and scheduled the next hearing for May 25. The Court also emphasized that SecLink must fulfill all other obligations besides the bidding amount while contesting the tender.
