IndiGo and IDFC FIRST Bank Launch Co-Branded Credit Card with Dual Network Benefits

Introduction

IndiGo, India’s largest airline, in collaboration with IDFC FIRST Bank, has launched the IndiGo IDFC FIRST Credit Card — a unique co-branded product that brings together the dual power of Mastercard and RuPay. Designed to maximize travel rewards and enhance lifestyle experiences, this credit card offers unmatched payment flexibility and exclusive travel privileges for frequent flyers.

Unique Dual-Network Proposition

Unlike traditional credit cards, this product combines Mastercard and RuPay networks in a single application, ensuring wider acceptance both domestically and internationally. The inclusion of RuPay also enables UPI integration, giving customers seamless access to digital transactions, POS payments, and e-commerce purchases.

Benefits for Travelers and Frequent Flyers

The credit card is tailor-made for travelers with the following key features:

  • Low forex markup of just 1.49% for international transactions.

  • Trip cancellation cover and comprehensive travel insurance.

  • Accelerated rewards on IndiGo flight bookings, everyday spends, and milestone achievements.

  • Lifestyle privileges and premium benefits, including complimentary meal vouchers.

Frequent flyers can accumulate up to 85,000 IndiGo BluChips annually, enough for multiple free flights.

Flexible Access and FD-Backed Option

To make the product inclusive, the IndiGo IDFC FIRST Credit Card comes with two access options:

  1. Joining Fee Route: Customers pay a joining fee of ₹4,999 and receive:

    • A welcome voucher of 5,000 BluChips.

    • A complimentary 6E Eats meal voucher.

  2. FD-Backed Route: Customers with a ₹1 lakh Fixed Deposit can get the card with zero joining fee and guaranteed approval.

Additionally, cardholders earn 3,000 extra BluChips by spending ₹1 lakh within the first 90 days.

Reward Earnings and Milestone Benefits

The card provides up to 22 BluChips per ₹100 on IndiGo flight bookings made via the IndiGo website and app. Annual milestone benefits include 25,000 additional BluChips, enabling customers with high annual spends (₹12 lakh or more) to accumulate over 60,000 BluChips plus bonuses — sufficient for multiple complimentary flight tickets to top destinations.

Strategic Partnership for Democratizing Travel

According to IndiGo’s Chief Information & Digital Officer, Neetan Chopra, this initiative strengthens the airline’s BluChip loyalty program, making travel more rewarding for its customers.

IDFC FIRST Bank’s Head of Credit Cards, Shirish Bhandari, emphasized that this is not just a premium travel card but a step toward democratizing travel and financial empowerment, making it accessible to a broader audience, including those with limited credit history.

Mastercard and RuPay’s Role in the Collaboration

  • Mastercard’s Senior VP, Anubhav Gupta, highlighted that the card enhances the overall travel experience by combining comfort, value, and insurance coverage.

  • NPCI’s Chief of Relationship Management, Rajeeth Pillai, underlined RuPay’s role in enabling UPI-linked credit card transactions, ensuring convenience across digital, POS, and e-commerce platforms.

Conclusion

The IndiGo IDFC FIRST Credit Card represents a next-generation financial product that blends travel benefits, lifestyle privileges, and inclusive access. With its dual-network integration, low forex markup, and accelerated reward system, it is poised to become one of the most sought-after travel credit cards in India.

For frequent flyers and everyday spenders alike, this card redefines how travel and finance converge in India’s growing digital economy.
