Adani Enterprises Partners with MetTube to Boost India’s Copper Tube Manufacturing and Green Infrastructure

Strategic Collaboration to Strengthen Self-Reliance in Copper Tubes

In a major step toward enhancing India’s manufacturing capabilities and reducing import dependency, Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) has signed Share Purchase and Shareholders Agreements with MetTube Mauritius Private Limited, a part of the Metdist Group. The strategic alliance is focused on delivering next-generation copper tube solutions, particularly for the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry.

50:50 Joint Investment and Operational Synergy

Under the agreement:

  • Adani Enterprises will divest a 50% stake in its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kutch Copper Tubes Limited (KCTL), to MetTube.

  • AEL will also acquire a 50% stake in MetTube Copper India Private Limited, a subsidiary of MetTube that operates a copper tube plant near Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

This dual investment structure ensures equal ownership and shared governance, laying the foundation for a robust, future-ready copper tube manufacturing business in India.

Leveraging Complementary Strengths

This collaboration combines:

  • Adani’s advanced infrastructure and operational expertise, including its greenfield copper tube facility at Mundra, Gujarat, under KCTL.

  • MetTube’s decades of global manufacturing expertise in high-performance copper tube production.

Together, the partners aim to co-create a globally benchmarked, energy-efficient, and scalable copper tube ecosystem.

Meeting India’s Growing Demand for Copper Tubes

The demand for copper tubes is surging in India, driven by:

  • Urbanisation

  • Increasing energy efficiency requirements

  • Expanding HVAC and refrigeration industries

  • Rising climate-responsive infrastructure projects

The copper tubes produced under this alliance will cater to critical sectors, including:

  • Air Conditioning

  • Refrigeration

  • Plumbing

  • Renewable Energy Systems

  • Smart and Green Construction Applications

This development aligns with the government's ‘Make in India’ and green infrastructure goals, offering domestically manufactured, internationally compliant copper tubes.

Vision for Sustainable and Scalable Growth

Jeet Adani, Whole Time Director at Adani Group, said:

"This partnership with MetTube is a strategic leap towards making India self-reliant in copper tube manufacturing. By combining Adani’s infrastructure with MetTube’s global expertise, we are building not just capacity, but capability."

Apurv Bagri, Chairman of Metdist Group, added:

"Together with Adani, we aim to deliver high-quality, locally manufactured inner grooved copper tubes that meet global standards. This partnership reflects our shared ambition for sustainable growth and innovation."

Copper as a Catalyst for India's Green Transition

Adani Enterprises’ copper tube venture is further backed by its 0.5 MTPA copper refinery project in Mundra, serving as the anchor for a forward-integrated copper ecosystem. This will ensure supply chain efficiency, cost control, and global competitiveness in the copper market.

The synergy with MetTube is expected to accelerate production timelines, improve domestic capability, and position India as a copper manufacturing hub, especially in green applications.

Over the years, AEL has built and incubated critical infrastructure businesses and later divested them into independent listed entities — demonstrating its commitment to nation-building and industrial leadership.

Conclusion

This partnership between Adani and MetTube signals a transformative moment in India’s industrial journey. It marks the beginning of a domestic copper tube manufacturing ecosystem that supports green infrastructure, enhances manufacturing self-reliance, and creates new benchmarks in HVAC and smart construction technologies.
