The Airports Authority of India (AAI) commemorated Vigilance Awareness Week (VAW) 2024 from October 28 to November 3, under the theme, "Culture of Integrity for Nation's Prosperity." The observance focused on promoting a culture of integrity, vigilance, and accountability across all AAI airports and establishments, emphasizing how vigilance contributes to effective governance and organizational success.


Inauguration of Vigilance Awareness Week 2024


The observance kicked off with the Integrity Pledge administered by H Srinivas, Member (HR), at a special event at AAI Corporate Headquarters in New Delhi. Joined by senior officers, Srinivas called on all employees to participate sincerely in VAW activities, underscoring the significance of vigilance in maintaining an ethical work environment. Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) Nikhil Kumar Kanodia and other AAI Board Members, including Sharad Kumar (Member Operations), Pankaj Malhotra (Member Finance), and Anil Kumar Gupta (Member Planning), were also present to lend their support.


Focus on Preventive Vigilance


At the event, CVO Nikhil Kumar Kanodia outlined the achievements of the Vigilance Directorate in the months leading up to Vigilance Awareness Week. Kanodia shared that the Directorate has been actively engaged in Preventive Vigilance by focusing on five priority areas as directed by the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC). He highlighted AAI’s dedication to fostering a culture of integrity, calling on employees to uphold ethical standards and join the movement against corruption in full spirit.


Engagement Activities During Vigilance Awareness Week


To further promote vigilance, AAI conducted a range of activities across its network, including:

- Elocution, debate, essay, and quiz competitions on vigilance themes

- Slogan and drawing contests that highlighted the importance of integrity

- Walkathons and Gram Sabhas held to engage local communities

- Integrity Pledge counters set up at airports to encourage passengers and stakeholders to pledge against corruption


These activities aimed to educate citizens and employees about the adverse impacts of corruption and the value of vigilance. By fostering dialogue and participation, AAI sought to create awareness on ethical governance and its role in national prosperity.
