“Futile Litigations Must Be Chopped Off”: A Judicial Call for Criminal Justice Reform Background of the Case In a significant ruling addressing judicial delay and systemic inefficiency, the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court quashed criminal proceedings pending for over 34 years in connection with an alleged ruckus at the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha premises in 1991 .
